Red and Black Café is Reborn

Wow, we've been so busy that newsletters just don't seem to get done (and why when we do one it's in text, not HTML)! Here's a quick look at a few things going on at Mirador and around the community.

Canning Jars
We received our first order of canning jars this week. We have sizes from 4 ounce jelly jars to 64 ounce (half gallon) canning/storage jars. New this year are plastic freezer jars and boxes.

March 15 Day Without War and Peace March
Mirador is co-sponsoring the March 15 Day Without War and Peace March. Organized by the PDX Peace Coalition, this is a day-long event with a rally and march at 2:00 in the South Park blocks (SW Madison and Park). Join us, your friends, family and extended family for this event. For more information see http://www.pdxpeace.org/.

Employee News
Besides Honna and Alicia (see last June's newsletter) we have hired two other people. Tammy Miller-Rembert was a social worker for many years and welcomes the less stressful job at Mirador (less stressful being a relative term!). Rhea DuMont just graduated from PSU with a degree in conflict resolution. Besides her work at Mirador, Rhea is involved in the Chocolate Rabbit collective making vegan chocolates. These are available at People's Food Co-op, the new Red and Black Café and other places (see http://thechocolaterabbit.blogspot.com/ for more details).

Red and Black Café is Reborn
Speaking of the Red and Black Café, our late neighbors have found a new home at 400 SE 12th Ave (at Oak), in the space formerly Ann Hughes' Kitchen Table Café. They are close to the "Vegan mall" at SE 12th and Stark. Check them out! Their website is http://www.redandblackcafe.com/.

Gift Registry
If you would like to register at Mirador for an event, here are some instructions on how to do it. This is a great way to get what you want and support a local business that shares your values. Also, see some eco-friendly products that we have available for special events.

If you have friends that are registered at Mirador you can see their registry here.
